Dibrugarh University, the educational centres of excellence, is the easternmost University in India. It was established in the year 1965 consequent upon the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. Being true to its mission of widening the wings of holistic education and instilling a passion for research and development among generations of learners, the University has significantly contributed to the economic, cultural and academic development of not only North East India but also of the country as a whole.

The University is situated in the beautiful town of Dibrugarh, which is one of the industrial and commercial hubs of North East India. The town also occupies a unique place in the field of art, literature and culture. Dibrugarh is internationally known as a rich tea producing district, and is also on the global map for its rich reserve of minerals like coal, oil and natural gas. Dibrugarh University has a productive and prolific industrial academia interface. The dynamic educational experiences that is offered by the University, prepares the next generation to lead and make a difference and thus contribute to the society at large. The University can boast of 175 affiliated colleges and institutes that spread over seven districts of Upper Assam. Dibrugarh University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and is recognised by all the universities in India and abroad.

The Dibrugarh University can boast of five Schools of Studies:

Admission Process in Dibrugarh University

UG Courses: The candidates are selected for the UG courses on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the class 12 board exams. A cut-off list is prepared by the University for Admission to various UG courses offered.

PG Courses: The candidates are required to sit for an entrance exams for admission to PG courses in Dibrugarh University. The entrance tests are conducted by the respective departments.

Engineering Courses: For admission to Engineering courses, candidates are selected through JEE (Main) and CEE (Assam). For PG courses in Engineering, one has to get a good GATE score to apply in Gauhati University.

Research Programs: Candidates are required to have a valid NET score to pursue research program in Dibrugarh University.
