Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU) was established as a State University in 2012. Located in Cooch Behar in West Bengal, it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is named after the great social reformer Thakur Panchanan Barma. He was a Rajbanshi leader and reformer from Cooch Behar who established Kshatriya Sabha to inculcate Brahminical values and practices among the people from Rajbanshi community. Thakur PanchananBarma was himself highly educated and believed in higher education for enlightenment. He graduated from Victoria College, Cooch Behar – which was then affiliated with the University of Calcutta – with an honours in Sanskrit in 1893. Later he passed MA and LLB in 1897 and 1898 respectively from the same university.

Admission to BA, BSc, MA, MSc in Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University

Admission to for B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. courses begin in the month of May. The duration of the program is of 3 years.To be eligible to the course students must have passed 10+2/HSC/Equivalent conducted by any recognised board in India. CBPBU offers 15 specializations in four major streams – M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., and L.L.M. Admission to the post-graduate programs start in the month of July every year. The academic session of CBPBU is July to June, which starts from the 1st July every year. Each session is divided into 2 semesters, which makes the total of 4 semesters per PG program and the duration of each semester is 6 months
